THE DIFFERENCE

We train divers to the standard
used for training instructors

Plenty of places can certify you. Very few design the quality of their training and keep managing that standard. At NB Divers, our PADI Course Director personally oversees the entire training system, so whoever teaches you, you get the same philosophy, the same standard, the same experience.

What matters to us is not how many cards we issue, but how many divers keep coming back to the ocean after the course. Building lifelong divers who can enjoy diving confidently anywhere, that is the goal of NB Divers.

Zero training accidents since opening in 2000, and more than 10,000 divers trained. A teaching philosophy and safety standard unchanged for 26 years built that record.

"Diving is our culture.
Certification is only the beginning.
We build divers who dive longer, happier, and safer."

Instructor-Level Standards

A PADI Course Director (since 2006), the person who trains instructors, personally designs the training system.

02 · 26 Years, Zero Accidents
The Record Speaks

Zero training accidents since opening in 2000. Fun and safety can coexist, we have proven it for 26 years.

03 · Teaching Philosophy
Divers Who Think for Themselves

Issuing a card is not the goal. You enter the ocean when you are ready, at your own pace. That is what keeps you safe anywhere.

04 · English & Japanese Support
No Language Barrier

Multilingual instructors and official PADI materials in your language. Safety information should never get lost in translation.

05 · Real Conditions
Four Seasons · Every Environment

From drysuits to the cold East Sea and the waters of Jeju. Skills learned in Korean conditions work anywhere in the world.

There Is a Right Start for You

Just watching is fine. One day is fine. Can't swim? Also fine. There is a path that fits your situation right now.

WHY START IN KOREA

In Korean waters,
you learn at your own pace

Learn in a tropical resort and you'll have a card in 2–3 days. If the card itself is the goal, that's a fine choice.

But if you need time to get comfortable, 2–3 days is short. Skills learned at your own pace, with enough practice, are the ones that last. The instincts you build in Korea make Thailand, the Maldives, and Australia feel like familiar territory, not a first time.

Divers certified at NB Divers are different. They are not afraid, anywhere.

★★★★★

"Moving around underwater was far more fun and calming than I expected, I didn't want to come out. It was so peaceful I felt I could sit on the pool floor and read a book. I only meant to try it once, but now I'm genuinely hooked."

★★★★★

"I was so afraid to jump in that I cried at the pool. My instructor never rushed me and waited until I was ready. The moment I made my first descent, the fear dissolved underwater. Now my goal is to become a Master Scuba Diver."

FAQ

The things you're worried about?
Most of them have answers.

Anything else, ask us directly on live chat.

What's the difference between a PADI certification and a license?

A certification is the official PADI credential issued at recreational levels, from Open Water through Rescue.

A license applies to professional levels such as Divemaster and Instructor, and grants the authority to work in diving professionally.

Dive centers that blur this distinction tend to blur their training standards too. NB Divers follows PADI standards exactly and explains clearly what each level means.

Why does NB Divers use precise PADI terminology?

Using PADI's standard terms correctly reflects how seriously we take training. When terms get mixed up, students can't tell exactly where they stand in their education.

It's the mark of a dive center trusted for the quality of its training, not its price, and it starts with a single word.

Can I dive if I can't swim?

Yes. Try-dive experiences are open to everyone regardless of swimming ability. For the PADI Open Water certification, the standard is a 200m swim, or a 300m swim with mask, snorkel and fins if swimming is difficult. Your instructor is with you from start to finish.

Is there an age limit?

Anyone aged 10 or older can join. Ages 10–14 earn the Junior Open Water certification and dive with an adult guardian. There is no upper age limit, if you have health concerns, talk to us first.

Do I need my own equipment?

No. Mask, fins, suit, BCD, and regulator are all provided as rentals. Only the drysuit is extra, at $35–$70.

How long does certification take?

For PADI Open Water, theory, pool, and ocean dives, usually 2–3 days. A 1-day intensive course is also possible depending on your schedule. The moment you certify, your card is valid worldwide.

Is it okay to come alone?

Of course. There is always a team at NB Divers, and making first-timers feel at home is part of our job. In fact, most of our regulars first came alone.

Isn't the Korean ocean cold?

Depending on the season, you wear a drysuit or a 5–7mm wetsuit. With the right gear, diving is comfortable even in midwinter. In fact, the marine life and clear visibility you only get in cold water are the real charm of the East Sea.
