You’ve been putting this off long enough.
Bali. Siargao. Maldives. Koh Samui. Every trip, your friends are already underwater — and you’re snorkeling on the surface, watching them disappear into the blue.
You’ve thought about getting certified. But Open Water means 3–4 days minimum, a trip to the coast, and a chunk of your annual leave. It never quite lines up.
So it becomes “maybe next time.” And next time becomes the time after that.
There is a better way to start — and almost nobody knows about it.
What is the PADI Scuba Diver Certification?
Most people only know about the PADI Open Water Diver certification. But within the official PADI system, there’s a step that sits just below it — one designed to be completed in a single day.
It’s called the PADI Scuba Diver (PSD) certification.
This is not a temporary card. Not a shortcut. It’s a fully legitimate, internationally recognized PADI certification — the first half of the Open Water curriculum. When you’re ready to upgrade, everything you’ve already completed counts. You don’t start over.
What can I actually do with this certification?

“Why not just get certified in Bali?”
It’s a fair question. Bali, Cebu, Koh Tao — tropical destinations where you can learn to dive surrounded by warm water and coral reefs. Sounds ideal, right?
Here’s what actually happens when people try that route.
Finding dive instruction in Seoul that actually works for foreigners has always been difficult. Most centers are Korean-only. At NB Divers, the instructors aren’t translators — they’re dive professionals who communicate in English. Not perfect English. Real English. The kind that gets you through gear setup, safety briefings, underwater signals, and the questions you’ll have at 10 meters down.
And it doesn’t stop when the course ends. Questions before your next trip? Something you want to double-check? Message your instructor directly on KakaoTalk or WhatsApp. The relationship continues — because good dive education doesn’t end when you surface.
The smarter move is to show up at your dream dive destination already certified — and already knowing you have someone to call if something comes up. No classroom days lost on vacation. Just you, the ocean, and the confidence that comes from learning it properly.
Who comes to NB Divers?
Expats & long-term residents
Living in Seoul and finally doing the thing you’ve been putting off. One Saturday, done. Then every beach trip for the rest of your time in Korea — and beyond — looks completely different.
Travelers passing through Seoul
Seoul is already on your itinerary. Add one morning to your trip and leave with a globally recognized PADI certification before you head to your next destination.
Pre-trip planners
Heading to Bali, the Philippines, or the Maldives soon? Get certified in Seoul first. You’ll spend every dive day actually diving — not sitting through pool sessions at a resort.
Couples & small groups
Doing it together makes everything easier. With a max of 3 students per instructor, couples and friends get dedicated attention — not split between a group of ten strangers.
Morning try-dive. Afternoon certification.
We never pressure you into a decision upfront. “Try it first. Decide at lunch.”
Key insight: The first hour covers Confined Water Training Dive 1 of the Scuba Diver course exactly. Hours two and three flow into Training Dives 2 and 3. Your morning is already part of the certification.
“That was way easier than I expected.”
“I want to keep going.”
“It’s so quiet and peaceful down there.”
Over lunch, you complete eLearning modules 1–3. Sign up same day: 50% off the afternoon instruction fee.
It’s not scary. You’ve already done this.
After a final eLearning review and a quick photo, your PADI Scuba Diver certification is issued the same day.
🔄 Ready to upgrade to Open Water later?
One more pool session and a single day of ocean dives is all it takes. Multiple scheduling options available — we’ll walk you through what works best.

Directors
The same course. A very different standard of teaching.
You can find the PADI Scuba Diver course at other centers in Seoul. But who teaches it makes all the difference.
Two PADI Course Directors on staff
Course Directors train other instructors — the highest qualification in PADI. With 30+ years combined experience, they personally oversee all instruction. Very few centers in Korea have even one. We have two.
Instructors who ice dive
Our instructors dive under frozen lakes in sub-zero conditions. That level of experience changes how you think about gear, situational awareness, and safety. They bring all of that to beginner instruction.
EFR Instructor certification
Emergency First Response instructor-level training means our team handles underwater emergencies at the highest standard. When choosing any dive center, ask if instructors hold EFR certification. Ours do.
English, Japanese & Korean instruction
Expat in Seoul, tourist passing through, or overseas Korean — our multilingual instructors make sure nothing gets lost in translation, especially safety information.
Female instructors always available
We have multiple female instructors on our team at all times. Just let us know when you book.
Maximum 3 students per instructor — always
“Learn Right, Enjoy Forever.” Small groups, every time. No exceptions. Nobody gets left behind.
What students say
“I used to be anxious around water. After training at NB Divers, I can dive with complete confidence. The instructors made all the difference.”
“They didn’t just teach me to dive — they showed me what diving actually is. The passion the instructors have is contagious.”
“There’s so much more to see underwater than above it. NB Divers opened up a whole new world for me.”
“Having two Course Directors at one center is rare. Best decision I’ve made in Seoul.”
