Get Your PADI Scuba Certification
in One Day

Living in Seoul, or just visiting? No week off, no ocean trip – one Saturday to a globally recognized PADI certification.

You’ve been putting this off long enough.

Bali. Siargao. Maldives. Koh Samui. Every trip, your friends are already underwater – and you’re snorkeling on the surface, watching them disappear into the blue.

You’ve thought about getting certified. But Open Water means 3–4 days minimum, a trip to the coast, and a chunk of your annual leave. It never quite lines up.

So it becomes “maybe next time.” And next time becomes the time after that.

There is a better way to start – and almost nobody knows about it.

The Course

What is the PADI Scuba Diver Certification?

Most people only know about the PADI Open Water Diver certification. But within the official PADI system, there’s a step that sits just below it – one designed to be completed in a single day.

It’s called the PADI Scuba Diver (PSD) certification.

This is not a temporary card. Not a shortcut. It’s a fully legitimate, internationally recognized PADI certification – the first half of the Open Water curriculum. When you’re ready to upgrade, everything you’ve already completed counts. You don’t start over.

Standard
PADI Open Water
Max depth: 18m / 60ft
3–5 days required
Pool + 4 ocean dives
Valid worldwide
Your Questions Answered

What can I actually do with this certification?

Q
Isn’t 12 meters too shallow to be useful?
Not at all. The average depth of guided fun dives at resorts in Bali, Cebu, Koh Samui, and the Maldives is 8–12 meters. Coral gardens, tropical fish, sea turtles, manta rays – everything travelers dream of seeing lives at this depth.
Q
Don’t I need a divemaster with me every time?
Even Open Water certified divers don’t dive alone – the PADI buddy system means you always dive with someone. At any resort abroad, guided fun dives are led by a divemaster or instructor, which automatically satisfies this requirement.
Q
Will my certification be recognized overseas?
Yes. Recognition is based on the issuing organization, not the location. A PADI Scuba Diver certification from NB Divers Seoul carries the same international validity as one issued anywhere in the world.
Q
Can a course really be done properly in one day?
Yes – because PADI specifically designed it that way. The Scuba Diver course is an official standalone PADI curriculum built for single-day completion. Every PADI center worldwide follows the same standard.
Q
I’m not a strong swimmer. Is that a problem?
Scuba diving is not swimming. The equipment provides buoyancy, so comfort in the water matters far more than swimming ability. The morning try-dive is the perfect way to find out how you feel before committing.

Why Seoul

“Why not just get certified in Bali?”

It’s a fair question. Bali, Cebu, Koh Tao – tropical destinations where you can learn to dive surrounded by warm water and coral reefs. Sounds ideal, right?

Here’s what actually happens when people try that route.

🌴 Getting certified abroad
2–3 days of your vacation spent in a classroom and pool – not exploring
📦Resort packages are built for volume, not quality – large groups, rushed instruction
🗣English instruction varies wildly depending on who shows up that day
😰Pressure to keep up with strangers in an unfamiliar environment
💸If you don’t pass, you’ve lost vacation days and still need to redo it
🇰🇷 Getting certified in Seoul first
Arrive at your destination already certified – skip straight to fun dives
Max 3 students per instructor – unhurried, thorough, personal
English-communicating instructors – real dive pros, not translators
Learn in a controlled pool environment – build real confidence first
One Saturday. Your vacation stays intact.

Finding dive instruction in Seoul that actually works for foreigners has always been difficult. Most centers are Korean-only. At NB Divers, the instructors aren’t translators – they’re dive professionals who communicate in English. Not perfect English. Real English. The kind that gets you through gear setup, safety briefings, underwater signals, and the questions you’ll have at 10 meters down.

And it doesn’t stop when the course ends. Questions before your next trip? Something you want to double-check? Message your instructor directly on KakaoTalk or WhatsApp. The relationship continues – because good dive education doesn’t end when you surface.

The smarter move is to show up at your dream dive destination already certified – and already knowing you have someone to call if something comes up. No classroom days lost on vacation. Just you, the ocean, and the confidence that comes from learning it properly.

Why NB Divers

The same course. A very different standard of teaching.

You can find the PADI Scuba Diver course at other centers in Seoul. But who teaches it makes all the difference.

🎓

Two PADI Course Directors on staff

Course Directors train other instructors – the highest qualification in PADI. With 30+ years combined experience, they personally oversee all instruction. Very few centers in Korea have even one. We have two.

🧊

Instructors who ice dive

Our instructors dive under frozen lakes in sub-zero conditions. That level of experience changes how you think about gear, situational awareness, and safety. They bring all of that to beginner instruction.

🚑

EFR Instructor certification

Emergency First Response instructor-level training means our team handles underwater emergencies at the highest standard. When choosing any dive center, ask if instructors hold EFR certification. Ours do.

🌐

English, Japanese & Korean instruction

Expat in Seoul, tourist passing through, or overseas Korean – our multilingual instructors make sure nothing gets lost in translation, especially safety information.

👩

Female instructors always available

We have multiple female instructors on our team at all times. Just let us know when you book.

👥

Maximum 3 students per instructor – always

“Learn Right, Enjoy Forever.” Small groups, every time. No exceptions. Nobody gets left behind.

Student Reviews

“They didn’t just teach me to dive – they showed me what diving actually is. The passion the instructors have is contagious.”

“There’s so much more to see underwater than above it. NB Divers opened up a whole new world for me.”

“Having two Course Directors at one center is rare. Best decision I’ve made in Seoul.”

100% of training counts toward Open Water upgrade
Upgrade takes just one pool session + one day at sea

When you’re ready to go full Open Water, you’ll already have the foundation. Faster upgrade, more confidence, lower marginal cost.
